#GodUniverse
Today something remarkable happened, the following began trending on twitter: #GodUniverse.
It's the first time that I've ever seen God's name trend, which is interesting...fascinating, actually.
Turns out it has something to do with Stephen Hawking denouncing the creator in a Discover Channel production...which saddens me, but was amused that discovery channel was trying to promote it's "God Isn't" show and Christians ran away with their hash tag.
However, as I read through there were many people talking about the stupidity of Christians to believe in a fabrication...some called them idiots, some called them silly sheep, some swore...but the resounding theme for the "God doesn't exist party" was "You hashtag stealing Christians -- you're all morons!".
This is not a new sentiment, but one that disturbs me whenever I come across it...and here's why. I'm not a moron.
Neither was TS Elliot, CS Lewis, or Tolkein.
Martin Lurther King Jr was quite something, and I'm pretty sure it wasn't a moron. Galileo, Kepler, Pascal, Newton, Columbus, Lincoln, Washington and the Wright Brothers - recognizable by last name alone as as great minds of history somehow get diminished to moron because they believed in a God who created, restores and redeems.
While most of them revered today were considered all kinds of crazy in thier own day.
I guess I'm more than ok if folks want to mock me for believing God created all that is bright and beautiful. I'm in good company.
