Can family be defined?  Are a brother and widowed sister raising her children less of a family than a wife, husband, two kids and a dog…or more so somehow through his sacrifice?

Our TA, who is first nations, shared that if you were invited into the song and drum circle to hear and participate, that made you family.

I visited beautiful people, to whom I share no blood relation.  Over a lifetime, they have become Momma Penny and Poppa Ken to me – they love and support me like I’m their own.

Where does your definition of family begin and end?
