Day 3: Chosen Ones


Over the years, my house (and my friend Kathleen’s) have at Christmas become a place for anyone wandering to find a “Family Christmas”, sadly, this year is a little different.  Yet, I’ve been reminded in so many ways this holiday season what remains in spite of physical distance.  

Priceless friendships.  With people who were there when all my family were far away, and those who have endured through the test of time, uncontrollable laughter and even heartwrenching anguish.  Between those in (what my grandmother would call) the “chosen” family category and my incredible blood relations, I am surrounded by people who are indescribable gifts. Y’all know who you are…
